As our Join the Cycle team travels the highways and byways we’ll schedule events such as motivational speeches and educational presentations, and participate in community events. Check back often as our calendar fills up!
JUNE
7th – 9th Annual Los Angeles River Ride
Our team will Volunteer at the River Ride to get into the cycling community spirit!
11th - Official start of Join the Cycle!
Join us starting at 9 AM at the Bicycle Kitchen to start out our ride! We are headed all the way to Pamona, but you can join for as much or as little of the ride as you’d like!
23rd - Flagstaff, AZ
JULY
1st – Albuquerque, NM
In Albuquerque we’ll be doing some presentations for a Boys & Girls Club, and a local summer camp. Look for us in the Albuquerque Journal over July 4th weekend!
4th - Santa Fe, NM
Who wants to invite us to a 4th of July vegetarian BBQ?
15th - Denver, CO
We’ll be rolling into town just in time to visit with the Food Not Bombs Denver chapter and enjoy a free community dinner! The meeting point is in Civic Center Park. FNB is an international movement promoting peace and protesting poverty by serving free, fresh vegetarian meals in public places. Would you like to help out? Food Not Bombs starts cooking at noon and serves food at 4 pm every wednesday. Contact Samir @ (303) 573-3896 if you would like to help cook!
Later that evening, we’ll bike through Denver with the Cruisers… Meet us at 7 pm at the Ginn Mill!
16th - Denver, CO
Come visit the JTC crew at The Bike Depot as we work to get our bikes in tip-top shape in the afternoon, and learn about all the great things the Depot does for their community!
19th – Urban Assault Ride, Fort Collins, CO
New Belgium Brewery transforms the streets of Fort Collins, CO into a zany bicycle obstacle course! We’ll see if Join the Cycle is up to the challenge!
31st – Lincoln, NE
We’ll be meeting with the Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln and possibly meeting with press. Watch out for us, Lincoln!
This evening we’ll join Lincoln’s Critical Mass ride, which meets at the state capitol building on the last friday of every month, 6 pm. We’ll be biking to promote understanding and cooperation between cars and bicycles!
AUGUST
3rd - Omaha, NE
Join the Cycle will be meeting with Girls Incorporated to talk bicycles and teach a fix-a-flat workshop!
7th - Des Moines, IA
The team will hold another Boys & Girls club meeting!
12th – Davenport, IA
Oops, we need a day off to do some organizing!
17th/18th – Chicago, IL
Come see us in the afternoon on the 17th at West Town Bikes, a great community bike shop, where we’ll get our sweet rides back in tip-top shape!
We’ll be meeting with the folks at the Blackstone Bicycle Works and giving a presentation during their youth program at 11:30 on the 18th.
On the evening of the 18th, we’ll hold a meet & greet at the Lincoln Park REI. We’ll be displaying a fully-loaded bike and showing photos from the journey at the store from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
26th - Sandusky, OH
In Sandusky, we’ll be meeting with another Boy’s and Girl’s Club, and then hitting the coasters at America’s largest (?) roller coaster park, Cedar Point! This’ll be our one splurge for the trip, and we can’t wait!
28th – Critical Mass, Cleveland
Meet us at 5:30 at Public Square, as we ride the streets of Cleveland to show solidarity with cyclists, and let people know that we belong on the streets too!
29th - Cleveland, OH
Meet us in Cleveland at the Food Co-op, where we’ll be talking with the customers about Join the Cycle! Afterwards, we’ll head to another Boys and Girls Club to talk to the kids!
SEPTEMBER
4th - Pittsburgh, PA

13th – Philadelphia, PA
Come visit us and join in the fun at Bike Philly! If you’ve been afraid to bike in the heart of Philadelphia, now is the time to check it out. You can bike up to 20 miles car-free. Register or check out more info online at http://www.bikephilly.org/
17th/18th – New York, NY

19th – 26th HOME STRETCH!!!
24th - Worcester, MA

25th - Critical Mass, Boston
As we roll into town on our last biking day, we’ll head straight to Copley Square at 5:30 to join Boston bike enthusiasts for Critical Mass!
26th - Finale Party in Boston, MA (saturday)
Join us as we complete our journey on the East Coast! We’ll jump off the bikes and start the celebration with fun, games, and music!
The party is being hosted by Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop on Newbury St. From noon till 4pm we’ll celebrate with live music, free face-painting, and big discounts on ice cream! Anyone who rides a bike to the event gets 50% off their order; don’t forget your helmet!
We’ll also be selling Join the Cycle t-shirts and chatting bikes. Don’t miss it!
