Take the Pledge

“I pledge to use my bicycle to bring me places, to use my car less and to have fun doing it!”

We’re riding across the country to get you involved—yes you! We believe that environmental causes need to reach people on a personal level. Join the Cycle isn’t asking for money, we’re asking for action.

Think about the routes you travel every day, every week, and on the weekends. How do you get from point A to point B?

Now imagine riding your bicycle on those routes. Can you ride to work? To school? To visit with friends and neighbors? By replacing all or a portion of your weekly car travel with bicycle, you’re saving yourself fuel, and reducing the amount of pollution entering your corner of this fragile earth. Every mile counts, and by riding you set an example for others, as well as opening yourself to new opportunities.

If you already travel by bicycle regularly, excellent! Sign the pledge to show us that you’re already hard at work.

Feeling intimidated? Don’t be! You can become the cyclist you want to be, and our pledge tips can help.

I have a 4 mile round trip commute to work and ride a few times a week. I pledge to ride everyday of the week unless we have frozen precipitation on the ground. I love riding my bike and don't see why i didn't do this before. Trapped in the mindset of must drive car! My bike commute one way is quicker than my car route one way (14 min car vs. 10 min bike) so why not ride my bike, right? Thanks for the inspiration!

I've been riding my bicycle to work and for most solo transportation for the last few years. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Thank goodness for the high gas prices of the summer or 2008! It got me into cycling. This year I started bike commuting several times a week. I'm working to increase use of my bike, decrease use of the car.

I sold my car this past January, and have been car free in New Orleans since then. Love my bike.

For my boyfriend and I, cycling is our primary mode of transportation (public transit is second). We do not own a car and do not plan to buy one. You ladies are doing a great job! Stay safe and enjoy the ride!

Just completed my own bike across the US ride, and it was outstanding! It wasn't easy, but it shows what you can achieve if you keep focused on the goal. And of course, enjoying every minute!

I ride my bike to work almost every day and have for at least two years. If it weren't for my bike I'd be a fat lazy slob. Now get out and ride!
