Take the Pledge

“I pledge to use my bicycle to bring me places, to use my car less and to have fun doing it!”

We’re riding across the country to get you involved—yes you! We believe that environmental causes need to reach people on a personal level. Join the Cycle isn’t asking for money, we’re asking for action.

Think about the routes you travel every day, every week, and on the weekends. How do you get from point A to point B?

Now imagine riding your bicycle on those routes. Can you ride to work? To school? To visit with friends and neighbors? By replacing all or a portion of your weekly car travel with bicycle, you’re saving yourself fuel, and reducing the amount of pollution entering your corner of this fragile earth. Every mile counts, and by riding you set an example for others, as well as opening yourself to new opportunities.

If you already travel by bicycle regularly, excellent! Sign the pledge to show us that you’re already hard at work.

Feeling intimidated? Don’t be! You can become the cyclist you want to be, and our pledge tips can help.

I've been car free for over 13 years, which isn't too hard in NYC. Over the summer I rediscovered how much I love biking and regularly bike 20 miles a week, mostly on weekends. I love it!!

I don't own a car. I bike, walk or take public transportation. Life is less stressful and there really isn't a hurry to rush through life. Now if I could get those car drivers to realize we are out there. I have been hit twice this year by cars. I live in Sweden 6 months of the year and in the US the other 6 months. I like bringing the European way of thinking about transportation to the US. We have a long way to go, but each of us has a responsibility to take action and through this action, it becomes contagious. Enjoy the ride and hopefully you have impacted positively in each community you have spoken.

I've been a bicycle commuter for the past two years, and have saved $$$ that would have gone into my gas tank. Viva la bike!

I am car free and commute to work every day of the work week by bike for a total of 8 miles per day as well as using my bike for all of my shopping needs and other errands and trying to participate in as many long distance rides I can fit into my schedule. I ride all 365 days of the year so being in Wisconsin that means riding through some blizzards. If I can ride through Wisconsin Winters everybody else has no excuse for not commuting the rest of the year.
