Take the Pledge

“I pledge to use my bicycle to bring me places, to use my car less and to have fun doing it!”

We’re riding across the country to get you involved—yes you! We believe that environmental causes need to reach people on a personal level. Join the Cycle isn’t asking for money, we’re asking for action.

Think about the routes you travel every day, every week, and on the weekends. How do you get from point A to point B?

Now imagine riding your bicycle on those routes. Can you ride to work? To school? To visit with friends and neighbors? By replacing all or a portion of your weekly car travel with bicycle, you’re saving yourself fuel, and reducing the amount of pollution entering your corner of this fragile earth. Every mile counts, and by riding you set an example for others, as well as opening yourself to new opportunities.

If you already travel by bicycle regularly, excellent! Sign the pledge to show us that you’re already hard at work.

Feeling intimidated? Don’t be! You can become the cyclist you want to be, and our pledge tips can help.

This is a great project. I just took my 7 year old on an overnight camping trip 25 miles away - we had a great time (http://kelly.hogaboom.org/?tag=s24o).

I wish you a fun trip, and I think what you're doing is wonderful!

I don't own a car, and I recently got my bike working. I've been inspired by Casey and take it out on the trails for a little exercise. I forgot how much fun bike riding is! Now I definitely see my bike as a mode of transportation- aside from the metro or catching a ride.

I ride my bike about 60 miles a week on the city streets around San Antonio, Texas. Life is good!

Presently on my way to breaking the 6,000 mile mark for utility/commuting/multi-use trail riding. Not too shabby since I took up commuting/cycling in October 2007.

I have been riding to work once or twice a week, but I pledge to bump that number up higher and stop making excuses about "needing" the car. I will do my best to continue to ride through the long and rainy Seattle winter as well.
